Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Fabric Enterprise Azure Data Architect with over 12 years of IT experience, specializing in Data Architecture and comprehensive Azure Data Platform solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of big data processing, schema-on-read principles, data lakehouse architectures, and modern enterprise data warehousing concepts. A proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-efficient data architectures on Azure is essential.
Crucially, hands-on architectural and implementation experience with Microsoft Fabric is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead the design and implementation of robust data architectures on the Azure Data Platform, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Fabric.
•Develop and optimize big data processing solutions, leveraging schema-on-read and data lakehouse architectural patterns.
•Architect and implement solutions using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks (PySpark), Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2), Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric.
•Design and build enterprise-grade ETL/ELT frameworks, metadata-driven pipelines, and reusable ingestion patterns, along with effective orchestration strategies.
•Apply solid expertise in data modeling methodologies, including Kimball, Inmon, and Data Vault, as well as Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 2) for both data warehouse and lakehouse implementations.
•Establish and enforce data governance, data quality frameworks, data lineage, and cataloging practices.
•Implement comprehensive data security models, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), data masking, and row/column-level security.
•Manage and optimize Azure data workloads, focusing on cost management, capacity planning, performance tuning, and query performance optimization.
•Integrate Azure infrastructure concepts such as networking (VNet, Private Endpoints), identity management (Azure Active Directory, Managed Identity), resource organization, and subscription management into data solutions.
•Drive CI/CD and DevOps practices, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (ARM/Bicep/Terraform) for automated deployments of data platforms.
•Design semantic layers and reporting models tailored for business intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
•Overall IT Experience: 12+ years in IT, with significant focus on Data Architecture and Azure Data Platform solutions.
•Microsoft Fabric: Mandatory hands-on architectural and implementation experience with Microsoft Fabric.
•Azure Data Platform: Deep expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks (PySpark), Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2), and Azure Synapse Analytics.
•Programming & Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python (PySpark is mandatory) and SQL. Familiarity with Power BI DAX is a plus.
•Data Modeling: Expertise in Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault, and SCD Type 2 methodologies.
•Data Governance & Security: Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality, lineage, cataloging, RBAC, data masking, and row/column-level security.
•Performance Optimization: Experience with cost management, capacity planning, and performance tuning of Azure data workloads.
•Azure Infrastructure: Understanding of Azure networking (VNet, Private Endpoints), identity (AAD, Managed Identity), and resource management.
•DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code (ARM/Bicep/Terraform).
•Business Intelligence: Experience designing semantic layers and reporting models for Power BI and Tableau.
Soft Skills
•Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Strong communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
•Ability to lead and mentor data engineering teams.
