Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Back-end Developer with extensive expertise in Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce and PHP. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building robust, scalable, and secure e-commerce solutions, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle, and working effectively within an Agile environment. This is a long-term contract opportunity for a remote position, with an immediate start.

Responsibilities

•Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure back-end solutions for e-commerce platforms.

•Develop and support custom Magento modules, extensions, APIs, and integrations with third-party services.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, QA engineers, and project managers, to deliver comprehensive solutions.

•Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues across various environments.

•Ensure the application’s security, scalability, and reliability through adherence to best practices.

•Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban) and contribute to continuous improvement.

•Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity, code quality, and problem-solving capabilities.

•Contribute to database design and optimization for MySQL.

•Implement and maintain Git-based source control best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

•Backend Development:

•12+ years of strong PHP development experience.

•Extensive experience with Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce architecture and development.

•Proven ability to build and support custom Magento modules, APIs, and integrations.

•Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles, design patterns, and software development best practices.

•Proficiency in MySQL and database design concepts.

•Experience consuming and developing REST APIs.

•Proficient in using Git-based source control systems (GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.).

•Platform & Operations:

•Demonstrated experience troubleshooting application issues across multiple environments.

•Solid understanding of application security, scalability, and reliability principles.

•Experience working effectively within Agile development teams (Scrum/Kanban).

•Familiarity and experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude) to improve productivity, code quality, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience working in B2B eCommerce environments.

•Experience with Node.js development.

•Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-hosted applications.

•Ability and willingness to contribute to front-end development when needed (JavaScript, Vue.js, Knockout.js, HTML, CSS).

•Experience with Docker and local development environments.

•Proven experience diagnosing and resolving application performance issues, including API latency, database bottlenecks, caching strategies, and Magento performance optimization.

•Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic, Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.
