About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Salesforce Nonprofit Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of transformative Salesforce solutions for our nonprofit clients. As a senior leader in our delivery team, you will bridge the gap between complex business requirements and technical execution, ensuring that nonprofit organizations leverage the full power of the Salesforce ecosystem to drive social impact.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in both the legacy Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) and the modern Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (Industry Cloud). You will be responsible for architecting scalable, secure, and integrated solutions that streamline fundraising, donor management, grant-making, and constituent engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Architecture & Design

In this role, the Solution Architect will lead the architectural design of end-to-end Salesforce solutions, ensuring alignment with nonprofit business objectives and industry best practices. This includes evaluating existing legacy systems, such as NPSP, and designing effective migration strategies to the new Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud where applicable. The architect will be responsible for creating comprehensive architectural blueprints, data models, and system landscape diagrams, as well as conducting technical feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed solutions.

2. Client Advisory & Stakeholder Management

The Solution Architect will serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and nonprofit program leads, adept at translating complex technical concepts into clear business value. Key responsibilities include leading discovery workshops to elicit detailed requirements and define project scope, and providing strategic guidance on multi-cloud implementations across Sales, Service, Experience, and Marketing Clouds.

3. Technical Leadership & Delivery

This position involves guiding delivery teams, including Developers, Consultants, and Administrators, through the entire implementation lifecycle. The architect will ensure strict adherence to coding standards and architectural integrity, oversee the development of custom components using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and advanced Salesforce Flow automation, and manage complex data migrations and integrations utilizing various ETL tools and middleware platforms.

4. Governance & Quality Assurance

For governance and quality assurance, the Solution Architect will define and enforce robust Salesforce security models, encompassing sharing rules, profiles, permission sets, and Org-wide defaults. They will ensure that all solutions are scalable, maintainable, and fully compliant with relevant data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, and will lead code and configuration reviews to uphold high delivery standards.

Required Qualifications

Professional Experience

Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in technology consulting or software architecture, with at least 8 years of hands-on experience implementing Salesforce solutions. A crucial requirement is 3+ years of experience in a Solution Architect or Technical Architect role on large-scale Salesforce projects, demonstrating proven architectural leadership.

Domain & Technical Expertise

Deep knowledge of both the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) and the new Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency across core Salesforce platforms, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud. Advanced technical skills are required in Salesforce Flow, Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and SOQL/SOSL for automation and development. A strong understanding of Salesforce governance, security models, sharing rules, and multi-tenant architecture is also critical. Proficiency with Salesforce Data Loader and deployment tools such as Copado, Gearset, or Salesforce CLI is expected.

Integration & Data Skills

Extensive integration and data management skills are required, including hands-on experience with REST and SOAP API integrations. Candidates should have experience with MuleSoft or other middleware platforms (e.g., Dell Boomi, Jitterbit), and expertise in ETL processes and large-scale data migration, particularly for nonprofit datasets. Experience integrating with various third-party applications, such as payment gateways (Stripe, Blackbaud, iATS) and marketing platforms (Marketing Cloud, Pardot), is also necessary.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

Highly preferred certifications include Salesforce Certified Application Architect / System Architect, Salesforce Certified Nonprofit Cloud Consultant, Salesforce Certified Sharing and Visibility Architect, and Salesforce Certified Data Architect. Experience with the Common Area Data Model and Industry Common Features (e.g., Actionable Relationship Center (ARC), Business Rules Engine) is a significant advantage. Furthermore, strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex technical ideas effectively to non-technical audiences are highly valued.
